Summer = Show of Skin! And that is exactly what this season’s bralet’s and bandeau’s are all about. Bandeau’s are strapless garments, bralet’s have straps – they both wrap around the body covering only the chest area.
To keep this look from not appearing more on the “racy side” – balance with a high-waisted bottom – this way you are not revealing too much skin, and it keeps the look sexy. This look can either be a day or night look, worn with heels or sandals.
It’s easy to add-on to a bralet or bandeau – you can layer with a blazer, sheer or lace tops, or vest and dress it up with accessories. This is a fun look, so have fun with it!

In order to expand your wardrobe and make it more versatile you must at least invest in the essentials that you can pair with several different items.
A basic white tee is easy to carry from day-to-night – with the right accessories and a little layering it is simple to pull off a different look by keeping only one item the same.
Shorts: Daytime Look
Casual shorts (khaki, denim, cotton) paired with a jacket or vest over the white tee is an easy throw on outfit for the day. To keep a look “daytime” you don’t want to over accessorize – stacked bangles with either a dainty long necklace or hoop earrings is perfect. Platform heels, wedges or sandals is a great finishing touch.
Shorts: Night Look
Tailored shorts with detailing; such as, pleating, layers, cuffed hems are great with a white tee and a blazer. Dress up nighttime looks by piling on the accessories. If you have a bold shoe (as pictured below) that should be the only stand out piece of the outfit, accessories should be kept simple. Or you could opt for a simple pump with statement jewelry pieces instead.
Skirt: Daytime Look
Full skirts with ruffles or tiered details are fun and playful – best suited for daytime. A waist belt, a long chain necklace and bangles bring the look together. You can also pair the look with a sandal or a wedge heel.
Skirt: Night Look
Form fitting skirts are a sexy way to dress up a white tee. With the detailing on the skirt you do not want to over do it with jewelry. A statement piece add-on, on the top suggests a simple heel.
Pant: Daytime Look
A white tee tucked or untucked into a cropped or skinny cargo pant or denim is a cool way to wear a tee during the day. Worn with a wedge heel print – all you need are stacked bangles paired with hoops and if you want to wear a necklace, a long simple chain will suffice. With a busy wedge heel, nothing else should compete with that.
Pant: Night Look
An all white ensemble is a great summer look – to carry this look into the evening, add a touch of color. The cropped jacket or blazer can also be in white but you need to add a color somewhere throughout your outfit. White heels with all white from head-to-toe is too much white – a neutral or colored heel works best. Since all white can look very casual – accessorizing is a must!

When I think of Drew Barrymore, I date back to the movie, ET, when she was a pig-tail wearing little girl, 50 First Dates to her upcoming film, Going the Distance. Elle’s August cover girl candidly speaks on why she’s not afraid to be 35 and single and what it has been like being in the limelight most of her life.
On taking stock of where she is now:
“For three years straight, I’ve been burning the candle at both ends, and as of last December, I just didn’t have anything left. I’ve been so aggressive about living life to the fullest and being plugged into everything, but now I’ve ripped the plug out of the wall and put it on the floor for a while. I’m thinking about the same things as when I was 15, about spirituality and who I am, who I want to be. It’s cocoon, pupa, larva, and fuck, I’m reborn!”
On the media’s misconceptions of her:
“I make movies. I have a passion. Puppies and daisies don’t accomplish anything. That’s not me at all.”
On being single:
“If you’re 35 and single and it’s a choice, it feels fine. So I didn’t settle with the wrong person yet. Big deal!”
On why she’s not afraid to get older:
“I don’t want to be vain or fearful, and I don’t think I’ll do anything [in terms of plastic surgery], but if I want to do something, I will. From my perspective, there’s no reason to be afraid of aging, because if you age, you’re lucky! The alternative is death.”
On child stardom:
“I was raised in unique and trying environments, but they were also amazing platforms for me to have an extraordinary life. Going through hell as a kid made me sensitive to what others in this world go through too.”

There is no such thing as “perfect” let alone a perfect body type – everyone has their flaws, everyone has their strengths. The key is knowing which is which and the tricks on how to either downplay or maximize those certain areas.
Below you will find a few quick tips on finding the right dress for your body type.
DEFINE A WAIST
Wanting to create an hourglass shape – cinched in waists, belted midsection and ruching in the middle will do the trick.
A short hem, a formfitting cut is a great way to elongate the legs – a straight and streamlined fit is highly suggested. And a pair of high heels is also great for adding inches to the frame.
ENHANCE THE BUST
Sweetheart cuts, bustier fits, structured fits, strapless dresses, detailing, ruffles, ruching around the bust area is a great way to give your chest a lift.
The quickest way to enhance curves is by wearing tiered ruffles or draping at the bottom or detailing at the top with a fitted bottom.

Dakota Fanning, graces the August cover of Marie Claire magazine. Fanning, is the epitome of young and fabulous. Only 16 years old, the Eclipse star has managed to avoid falling into the “Hollywood trap” that most young actresses succumb to. Instead, Fanning has found her niche in both the fashion and entertainment industries, yet still keeps herself grounded.
On growing up in the business:
“When you start out young, people get really attached to who you are at 6 years old. I hope that The Runaways was kind of a moment to be like, ‘You know, I’m not that young little girl anymore, but I’m still not all grown up, either.”
I am a fan of Dakota. To be at a young age and constantly in the limelight, but still upkeep her professionalism, a positive attitude and making bold statements with her latest fashion choices is pretty impressive. Dakota looks amazing in this issue!
