How To: Taking a Basic White Tee from Day-to-Night

In order to expand your wardrobe and make it more versatile you must at least invest in the essentials that you can pair with several different items.
A basic white tee is easy to carry from day-to-night – with the right accessories and a little layering it is simple to pull off a different look by keeping only one item the same.
Shorts: Daytime Look
Casual shorts (khaki, denim, cotton) paired with a jacket or vest over the white tee is an easy throw on outfit for the day. To keep a look “daytime” you don’t want to over accessorize – stacked bangles with either a dainty long necklace or hoop earrings is perfect. Platform heels, wedges or sandals is a great finishing touch.
Shorts: Night Look
Tailored shorts with detailing; such as, pleating, layers, cuffed hems are great with a white tee and a blazer. Dress up nighttime looks by piling on the accessories. If you have a bold shoe (as pictured below) that should be the only stand out piece of the outfit, accessories should be kept simple. Or you could opt for a simple pump with statement jewelry pieces instead.
Skirt: Daytime Look
Full skirts with ruffles or tiered details are fun and playful – best suited for daytime. A waist belt, a long chain necklace and bangles bring the look together. You can also pair the look with a sandal or a wedge heel.
Skirt: Night Look
Form fitting skirts are a sexy way to dress up a white tee. With the detailing on the skirt you do not want to over do it with jewelry. A statement piece add-on, on the top suggests a simple heel.
Pant: Daytime Look
A white tee tucked or untucked into a cropped or skinny cargo pant or denim is a cool way to wear a tee during the day. Worn with a wedge heel print – all you need are stacked bangles paired with hoops and if you want to wear a necklace, a long simple chain will suffice. With a busy wedge heel, nothing else should compete with that.
Pant: Night Look
An all white ensemble is a great summer look – to carry this look into the evening, add a touch of color. The cropped jacket or blazer can also be in white but you need to add a color somewhere throughout your outfit. White heels with all white from head-to-toe is too much white – a neutral or colored heel works best. Since all white can look very casual – accessorizing is a must!
Thanks for this advice! It’s extremely helpful for those like me who are limited shirt-wise. 🙂
