Shoe Diary

May 30, 2011 § Leave a comment

Since I do majority of my shopping online, I constantly come across items that I must have.   I find it very helpful to keep track of all the shoes by jotting them down (designer/brand, price, where to buy, etc.) and saving their photo to my phone so I can always refer back to them at any given moment.  I have an app checklist on my phone dedicated solely to future purchases, I can’t help myself and it helps!  I check items off as I get them.   I am a serious shoe fanatic above anything and my collection is forever growing.

My Shoe Diary posts will showcase my up and coming buys.  Do you keep a list?

As they say, every detail counts, braided materials, weaved raffia and textured add-on’s is a great way to summerize your wardrobe.  Rather it be your accessories or heels, the detailing is an instant way to season your look for the warmer temperatures.

A few daily obsessions, all perfect items to add to your summer wardrobe!

Free People Asymmetrical sheer top $98

Loving the sheer and the fact that it is asymmetrical is a plus, it’s different and can be paired with pretty much anything, a fitted bottom, of course to balance out the top.

Urban Oufitters $39

Prints, I can’t get enough of them! Pair these with a wooden platform sandal, AMAZE!

Dotted Dress $160

Adorable, if these came in more than one color, I would grab them all! Simply chic.  Add a touch of color with your shoes or accessories.

L.A.M.B. ‘Evelyn‘ $264.99

This season I am loving multi-colored shoes, they are everywhere! Add at least one pair to your collection, mix things up a little!

Day Birger ‘Nagas’ necklace $180

Stunning, this necklace over a navy/white striped top would look great, the necklace would really pop, as it does by itself.

French Connection ‘Panel Princess Wooden’ bag $168

Yes, a wooden bag and it comes with a chain-strap, need I say more.

Shop My Look: Unexpected Color

An easy way to dress up a casual bottom, add a dressy top, pile on the jewels and accentuate your legs with a pair of sky-high heels.

I prefer playing with different looks and mixing different fabrics and patterns and pairing items together that  would not normally be the go-to match, that’s one of the best things about fashion.

Sheer bottom up blouse + patterned full mini + unexpected pop of color

Patterson J. Kincaid blouse, $98 | Ronny Kobo aztec skirt, $85 | Michael Antonio pumps, $50 | Boho bangle set, $25

Chunky Platforms

Everything old always seems to find its way back to the present, here we are introduced again to chunky heels or should I say, Gabborr! Reminiscent of the ‘flower child’ days I can not help but think back to flared leg bottoms, oversized sunglasses and paisley prints when I look at these shoes.  The slingback  gives this platform a more modern look.

Chunky heel + platform sandal = all around comfort.  I am loving these shoes!

Trend Alert: Flatforms

May 23, 2011 § Leave a comment

Think of a ballet flat plus a platform, and there you have a flatform!  With the main difference being that this shoe is completely flat.  These stacks are slowly on the rise, do I expect them to be as popular as a regular wedge platform, not so much.  Flatforms are more of a casual look, to be paired with your daytime outfit., but just as comfortable.  Flatforms for the day, platforms by night.

Michael Kors

Jumpsuits + A Bright Color

May 19, 2011 § Leave a comment

Jumpsuits, rompers, one pieces, oh my! This trend is everywhere, ranging in styles, patterns, shapes and length.  This quick throw on look may not work for everyone but definitely can be flattering if worn and styled correctly.  The key is to create a balanced look, most one pieces are not form-fitting, meaning the top should offset the bottom or vice versa.  Add an unexpected accessory to spice up the look.  No one likes the same ole’, give your look some excitement with an item that stands out.

Khloe pulls off this trend without a hitch, opting for a one piece with a cinched in waist or belted middle keeps the look in proportion.  With a patterned piece, make sure the rest of your look complements one another, rather than competes with each other.

With a pop of color or the “unexpected accessory”, draws the attention right to that particular item and instantly stands out, I love these looks!  Give this trend a try but be sure to add your own touch of fun.
